Stomach Acid Rocks! This wonderful book got me started on a journey that corrected some nasty problems, some of which have nagged me for years! I have had asthma since youth but it has worsened in the past two years. Two years ago I developed periodic bouts of hoarseness, phlegm buildup in my throat shortly after eating, a constant post nasal drip and a feeling of some sort of gas creeping up into my trachea about 30 minutes after eating. A trip to an ENT doctor resulted in a diagnosis of a form of reflux called LPR or silent reflux. This form doesn't burn your esophagus but wrecks havoc in your sensitive upper respiratory area. The Doc gave me...yes you guessed it Prilosec, an acid reducer. Upon doing my own research on LPR I ran across the works of Chris Kressor and Norman Robillard (Fast Tract Digestion, HESARTBURN, A Revolutionary Diet System to Treat and Prevent Acid Reflux Without Drugs" that attributed reflux to Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), which can be the result of low stomach acid. I did the stomach acid self test and determined I was deficient. I started taking HCL with Pepsin about three months ago and can report no more hoarseness, no more asthma and no more upper respiratory discomfort. Surprisingly, another chronic ailment I have suffered with for decades has also apparently gone away and that is pelvic floor pain. Recent research has identified a connection between pelvic floor pain and SIBO.

This is an excellent book, written by an incredible holistic-minded physician. This guy knows his stuff: Dr. Wright was the guy who brought bio-identical hormone therapy to the U.S. He explains in a lot of detail why stomach acid is critical for the health of the entire human body. Where some of the myths or misunderstandings about it came about, etc. He also explains how to easily and inexpensively test/treat yourself with HCL/pepsin capsules in a very concise manner. I found that my acid levels are lacking after following his protocol. I went up to the maximum 7 capsules per meal, and never had any burning or discomfort in my stomach. That means for at least the last 10 years or so, my poor stomach has been having a hard time, and thus, the rest of my digestive system as well.I should mention one of the reasons I suspected I had poor stomach acid production. Off and on, for the last decade or so, I'd periodically have this persistent, gnawing hunger in my stomach, even after I had just eaten. In fact, sometimes it would literally get worse after I ate. That symptom had gotten a lot worse the last year or so, happening more frequently, sometimes for days at a time. After some searching, and ruling out a couple of other causes, I found that this is a common symptom of low stomach acid! I'm happy to report, that the HCL/pepsin therapy seems to have taken care of that annoying symptom, or at least knocked it way down.If you or anyone you know, has heartburn or ANY other digestive issues, I strongly encourage you to read this book. It is a real eye-opener. The ONLY thing I will say, is that, in the book he mentions they don't really know why people with low stomach-acid production experience heartburn, but that they observe clinical improvement when acid production is improved. From what I've read elsewhere, we DO know why: if stomach acid is deficient, food sits in your stomach and ferments, which creates gas. That gas carries particles of the stomach acid upward, to the GE sphincter, and irritates it, causing the heartburn. But that's just a side-note and doesn't warrant taking away a star for this book. Great stuff

Good information, but as some others have already said: All the info in the book could be summed up in a few pages. They just repeat the same thing over and over (and over and over) to pad out the book. It's a bit ridiculous. Also they must have just ran it through a spellcheck and then sent if off to print without even glancing at the results. It gets pretty annoying reading Tums as Turns or Alka Seltzer as Aka Seltzer repeatedly. Come on guys. If you're going to charge for a book, at least use an editor.If you're here you probably already know (or are starting to catch on) to the fact that your heartburn is caused by too little stomach acid, not too much. So just read some web articles, get some Betaine with Pepsin supplements and start fixing your issues! No real need to read this book unless you're really unsure.

I found the content of this book quite helpful and easy to understand, but I had some frustrations with the format and organization, particularly in the Kindle version.As someone with several autoimmune diseases, I was particularly interested in the chapter that discusses the connection between hypochlorhydria, leaky gut, and autoimmune disease. I've just recently started taking supplemental HCl and pepsin under the guidance of one of the physicians at the Tahoma Clinic (of which Dr. Wright is the founder and medical director), and I am already seeing some improvement in my digestive symptoms. I will be very interested to see whether this also improves the symptoms of any of my other health problems.My frustrations are primarily due to problems that should have been corrected by an editor or proofreader. Some of these problems were likely due to the use of OCR software. For example, "tly" consistently appears as "dy," and "Tums" appears as "Turns." In other places, there were minor grammar problems or missing punctuation that may have been in the original text. The intended meaning is not difficult to decipher, but I find these kinds of errors annoying.As for the organization, I was a little frustrated having to wait until Chapter 7 to read about the suggested changes to relieve heartburn and correct low stomach acid, but I wouldn't mind so much if there was an entry in the Table of Contents linking to the lovely summarizing table. Again, a minor complaint, but something I would have wanted to change if I had edited this book.Despite these minor frustrations, I think this book was generally clear and easy to understand, and many people would benefit from reading it.

Easy to follow guide with nice photos showing asanas. I take my time and focus on each breath and try to do postures ever day, it is making a difference. Highly recommend this book for anyone with lung issues.
