A great read for middle school boys, younger readers, or anyone interested in this legendary football player. The stories follow Brian Urlacher from a young kid, through his middle school years, and finally into high school. Each chapter highlights an obstacle he faced (like being "the short kid"--who knew?!) and how Brian worked through the challenge. Some parts were really funny, and some anecdotes made you appreciate how much teamwork can impact a kid's life. Great illustrations throughout.

Sean Jensen is an incredibly passionate storyteller and talented writer. He has a gift for capturing real life stories that truly have an impact on his readers. I wish there were more writers like him to provide our children with inspirational stories. I know that for my son and me, the story about Brian Urlacher's childhood told by Sean will have a lasting impact. I too hope that if my son is faced with adversity and challenges during his childhood, he will face them head on without excuses.

This book is a book about Brian Urlacher and thus sort career from middle school to high school. I gave this book a high rating because I love sports books. I would recommend this book to anyone who like biographies and/or sports books.

Bought this one as gift and planning on buying another book for my son for his birthday coming up later this year. Bears fan!

I gave this book to my eleven and twelve year old grandsons in Middle School. Brian Urlacher is a good man and worth listening to by young men.

My fourth grade daughter read this in a few hours. She is not a football fan, but she still enjoyed it immensely. The lessons of perseverance and overcoming adversity are universal. I highly recommend this book to parents or teachers who want their children to dream big and work hard.

I'm relatively new to working on cars, I just got tired of all these moron mechanics either messing things up or trying to be slick with me. From a guy who's only been doing this for 6 months, these manuals go into so much detail, often covering things that I cannot find on google or youtube. The explanations are clear and concise, and unlike a lot of forums online, I can easily determine what's being instructed and knowing it's being done exactly to specification. Sure, there are online versions now, but I like to be able to take the book with me and have it next to me to compare the pictures to what i'm doing, without worrying about the messiness of a typical job messing up my devices. This book has paid for itself, saving me money by enabling me to do my own mechanic work.

Bought used & came better than expected. These books are worth the price in gold. We have always had one for repairs to our vehicles. I recommend having these books on hand for your cars. It’s a encyclopedia of information for your car. Even if you don’t repair them yourself. It allows you to have some idea of what may be going wrong when you take it to a repair shop. Yes, the internet can tell you these things also. Except that the book has in-depth written, photos that are precise, & car specific. Plus, if your fixing the car & your hands are greasy. Touching an expensive phone, tablet, &/or computer device will be avoided with these books.

I used this book to work on my 1994 Honda so much that it is covered in grease and a bit of blood from a broken finger when changing a tie rod, but it was well worth the purchase. I no longer have my Accord, but I still have this book, as it was a great help, so I'll eventually give it to somebody who needs it.What Haynes does really well is that they have a "questionnaire" that will help you to diagnose what is wrong with your car, and then the detailed, step-by-step instructions--that tell you what tools you will need, as Hondas have a few specialty tools that are required to work on them--make repairs easier. Torque values are included, and notes of caution are abundant so that attempted repairs do not cause you to do more harm than good, at least, not without ample warning. For the home mechanic, this is a must for this car.

I was surprised that the used Honda Accord for 1994 - 1997 Haynes Repair Manual arrived in the mail box in very good condition. It had normal wear. The pages have crisp text. It only had minimal markings on a few pages. The repair manual is very practical with detailed steps. I have the 1996 Honda Accord Service Manual, which helps supplement to provide more useful information.

Very poor quality of paper. Not color photos and very, very short. I mean... if i pay $4.95 for a 8.5x11 Magazine with all pics are in high resolution and colorful... why this book are so cheap ? For the knowledge ? Come on ! The papaer feel extremely recycling. With just a drop of water you can ruin the page. Another thing. This book is for Medium to Expert, not for normal to average users.

I am so glad that we finally decided to get this manual for our car. When something goes wrong we no longer have to spend hours online trying to figure out what the problem might be and how or if we could fix it ourselves. It takes a lot of stress and worry out of car repairs because we have the instructions and pictures showing us how to do many of the repairs ourselves and if we can't do them ourselves then we are more informed when taking our car in for repairs. It brings a sense of security when dealing with mechanics.

There's a big splash of ink in my book. I just got back home from work and I was looking through it and I found it on page 4-14. Good thing it wasn't anything than about the fuel rails.

Saved me several hundred dollars. One shop quoted way too much on an AC repair claiming that the entire dash system had to come out. Manual clearly showed it was a 1.5 hours job to replace the part by removing the glove box only. Best BS detector I ever bought. Everything else I read in this manual is gravy.

Intersectionality as an idea arose out black feminism as black women understood that it was not enough to understand the differentials of power and the effects of oppression that came from being a black, or being a woman. These identities come together to shape people and institutions and the power relations between them. Also, as an analysis that arises on the receiving end of unjust uses of power, it is constantly connecting theory and praxis–reflection and action to pursue justice.In this work, subtitled “An Introductory Guide,” the authors apply this approach to doing theology. They contend that much of the church’s theological scholarship has been done by white, male, Euro-Americans and reflects our social location. Furthermore, some of the theological work that has been done in resistance to this culturally dominant group, like liberation theology, or feminist theology, often is along a single axis of ethnicity, or gender, and is not cognizant of the multiple ways different aspects of identity are shaped by power relations.The authors introduce us to this approach first by giving some of the history that I touched on above of the development of intersectional analysis. They then illustrate intersectionality as it relates to theological ideas with their own narratives.The third chapter then describes what it means to do intersectional theology. One of the key proposals here is that intersectional theology is a “theology of indeterminacy” rather than one that articulates absolute truth claims. Practicing intersectional theology involves “bracketing” our own understanding to enter into the logic of others’ frameworks. It recognizes that theological work is done in a context and asks how our own interpretive community has influenced our interpretations. It forces one to examine whether one is using a single axis of one’s identity and muting others. Oriented toward justice, intersectional theology looks at how a theology either supports or challenges inequities.Chapter four explores reading the Bible intersectionally, and this I found quite helpful. They use the example of the book of Ruth, looking at the different identities of Ruth, the widowed Moabite woman immigrant, Naomi, the bereft Jewish mother unable of her own to assert her inheritance rights with no male offspring, and Boaz, the male, Jewish landowner.Chapter five turns to the practice of intersectionality, both in terms of the pursuit of justice, and fostering the intersectional church. They advocate for a church that is fully intersectional and inclusive along all the axes of identity discussed including age, race, sexual identity and orientation, economic status and more.There is much here that I appreciate. First is the recognition that we do not do our theological work in a vacuum but that it may well reflect one’s various axes of identity. Listening to those who are reading scripture who are not white, not male, not Western has opened my eyes to things in the biblical text to which I’ve been oblivious because of my own social location. Recognizing the complexity of the intersections of race, gender, orientation, and other aspects of our identity and how the mix reflects our experience of power and how we hear scripture, challenges the assumptions I make and my awareness of who “we” are together as the global body of Christ. Learning to “bracket” and incarnationally enter into the lived experience and theological frameworks of others seems crucial to developing the capacity to move beyond our identities to reflect what it means truly to be the body of Christ.At the same time, I do find myself with some questions as I consider this proposal. One has to do with the authors’ comments about Karl Barth (p. 14). They are critical of Barth’s focus on the Bible alone and de-valuing context and social location. Yet it seems that it is precisely Barth’s understanding of the Bible that enables him to forcefully challenge and resist the social location of the Third Reich and the Christian nationalism of the German church in the formulation of the Declaration of Barmen, even though this was the context and social location out of which he theologized.I also wrestle with the language of a “theology of indeterminacy” which sounds like another way of speaking of the “pervasive interpretive pluralism” that Christian Smith has observed in his critique of “biblicist” Protestant Christianity. At times, intersectionality seems to hold out hope for different communities recognizing more truly the manifold revelation of God in Christ, and reflecting that in the mosaic of identities reconciled in Christ. Yet, the question arises of what we do when we have opposing interpretations, even when interpreters from different communities have bracketed, carefully listened, and still at the end of the day differ.I found this a thought-provoking work. While I cannot embrace every conclusion or praxis advanced in this work, it does make me both more reflective about how my own context and various aspects of my identity shape how I read scripture and do theology. It made me want to listen more to voices outside my own social context.

This is a fun, entertaining version of The Three Little Pigs. It is great for use in the classroom - it is short and relatively simple (so fits well into the whole group reading block) but lends itself to motivation as well as educational purposes. This is motivating and really helps some students who may still be struggling with language and/or comprehension to understand the story. I often do it as a little unit together with the classic story and other versions such as The Three Little Tamales by Eric Kimmel and really talk about how the characters, problem, and solution are similar/the same, but the setting really changes the story and how.Anyway, this is a fun book both just to read and to really think about and use. Every year it ends up being one of my students' favorite books!

Great story, based on the three little pigs. Our toddler loves this book the most. It helps that the cover is very shiny silver. I'd recommend it for any little toddler who loves sharks as much as ours. Otherwise just buy the regular three little pigs story, since it's the original and this one is a little goofy.

Beautiful shiny cover and bright illustrations are a plus. I didn't care for the large randomly placed and randomly sized font. This was a basic simple retelling of the Three Little Pigs story with a clever substitution of "Not by the skin of my finny fin fin". Good length for children with short attention span. My 2.5 year old granddaughter fell in love with Three Little Gators (by far the best of the spins on the Three Little Pigs in our opinion) so I ordered this. It was kind of a let down after the Gators version.

Hilarious twist on classic tale, Three Little Pigs! Illustrations are colorful. Kids are captivated by the story.

Better than I expected, my son LOVES this book. He's obsessed with sea life so this great twist on the 3 little pigs is right up his alley! We read it every night. The illustrations and the way the words are laid out on the page make it a fun book to get animated with.

Three year old twins love this book and frequently talk about the shark's teeth falling out.

Another enjoyable book for young people. Just as cute as it can be. It is fun to read this one with children after you have read The Three Little Pigs. The illustrations are very colorful and nice. I just liked this book really well. So did our little people.

A great book in the tradition of the three little pigs :) Book condition itself is a bit on the cheaper side but at this low price you can't complain :)

Very informative, work illustrations in color.. keeps you interested in reading further

This book goes into wonderful details about DNA and coupling to that are experiments to talk about how those discoveries were made. There are a lot of informations to which the reader must memorize to be a dedicated scientist. If the reader does not have a mature and analytical/reasoning skills, then all the informations will be gibberish. The reader also much have a basic understanding of chemistry and biology to understand the informations. If the reader is in high school and is taking Honor/AP biology then the informations will be clear cut. Some abbreviation are used and will not be told to what it stand for. Ex: the book used "bp" (it does not mean blood pressure), this refers to as "Base Pairs". The book did not provide "Base Pairs" so the reader must be able to reason it out base on the context and how bp was used. Over all comment on this book is IT'S AWESOME!!!!

This is the perfect textbook for a first course in recombinant DNA technology. It covers both theories and laboratory procedures very well.Students must have finshed high-school biology and chemistry before studying DNA Science. Students can also take DNA Science along with AP/IB biology.After completing this textbook, university students will find textbooks such as "Molecular Biology of the Gene" and "Molecular Cloning-A Laboratory Manual" very easy.

The book as delivered is in very good shape, it appears as tho it is brand new. Unfortunately it sports a pungent, air-freshener or perfume-y smell, not the usual paper-and-ink smell one is used to with books. I don't know where it picked up its odor, perhaps in the vendor's storage area? In any case I don't like it, and whereas the book alone merits 5-stars for the vendor, I have subtracted one star as a way of saying "Phew!"

Book has included basic molecular biology chapters and so far so good. Will update the final review once I go through all the chapters.

I wanted a replacement for the DNA books loaned and not returned. The subject was not a good substitute. Easy to read in places; too much of a lab book. Good for a DNA student tech. Will not replace Watson and Crick for the double helix curious.

I bought it as a teacher's reference book, but it would also make a great text for an advanced high school class. As textbooks go, it is very readable. I found it thorough, but not overwhelming. I like the format--part 1 is textbook and part 2 is lab book.

Good book.

Cyberpunkalicious detail make this original story an engrossing adventure of action and intrigue. Pigeonholing this into "manga" just doesn't seem right. It's just a great graphic novel. A really great science fiction story with complex themes and interesting ideas. Much more than just "manga."This edition is paperback, black and white, and takes about three hours to read. The only downside is that if you buy this and read it, you will have no choice but to buy volume 2. That said, this is a well-contained story, it just sets up the rest of the series and leaves many unanswered questions.

After falling in love with the classic 1988 film adaptation, I decided to gather some context and read the source material.I was, of course, blown away.I've never been a great consumer of comics or manga, only the absolute classics have gotten my attention, but the fantastic artwork and narrative flow of Otomo's masterpiece was enthralling. Being a manga, and not an especially wordy one, I tore through this whole 300+ page volume in under an hour, then turned around and immediately ordered the other volumes.The ideas and themes Otomo tackles in this series are famously complex and thought provoking, but they never become overpowering or discouraging due to the thorough depiction of a wonderful setting. The world these characters live in is vibrant and every bit as interesting as its cyberpunk/sci-fi mashup of a plot.I won't say or do anything to spoil the experience for the uninitiated. All I can do is sing Akira's praises in the hope more people take the time to understand one of the greatest works of fiction of the 20th century.

Akira still stands head and shoulders above the competition. The pivotal and compelling stories of a group of low-life juvenile friends who find their fast-riding life style come into a literal collision with destiny. Gorgeous as it is grandiose Akira is painstakingly detailed and remains one of the only graphic novels that can truly be described as "a labor of love". If you are a fan of graphic novels that somehow missed this one, you need to read it. Now. For fans of the film who don't normally read comics, the same applies. There really is nothing else like it, this work needs to be experienced and appreciated for what it is: A stunning work of art.

I have re-read this series at least 3 times since I bought it, and it never fails to move me to tears, to shamelessly fall in love with Kei, and to be sad when I finish it. I used to work in a library and learned how to cover books. (It is a sticky transparent flexable plastic that protects the cover from spills, dogears, and strengthens the spine.) The Akira series is one of the favored few in my personal library to be covered. I want to enjoy it for years to come, and for my many nephews and nieces to be able to do the same when they get old enough.

(This review covers the first two volumes)Young, tough, motorcycle-riding gang ruffians stumble onto a bizarre government experiment in postapocalytic Tokyo in this classic manga series from Katsuhiro Otomo. The government sequesters and essentially holds captive a few hyper-aged children with a variety of bizarre powers, keeping one of them in deep hibernation, lest another apocalypse be unleashed upon the beleaguered populace of Tokyo. Badness ensues when one of the motorcycle-riding ruffians acquires one of the unique powers the government is doing its level best to control, and his powers, of course, eclipse any that have before been observed. Our new super-powered ruffian proceeds to remove Akira, the super-weapon kept in deep hibernation, from his prison, and then a game of grab-Akira-and-run occurs with the government, the ruffian, and antigovernment forces (which, being antigovernment, are of course the good guys). The art in this book is astonishing and all completely hand-drawn, and, my art friends tell me, contains some of the best manga page spreads in existence. I confess that some of the high-action scenes (many of which being double-page spreads) such as motorcycle chases and explosions were difficult for me to "decipher," but they were extraordinary nonetheless. I'd classify this as a pretty standard postapocalyptic story, with your standard government bad guys and antigovernment good guys - but that's where "standard" stops. The "weapons" in this story are people. The character development is remarkable. It's a lot to take in while reading, if you look closely at the art, which is merited. Volumes end with cliffhangers. I will continue with this series for sure. One note: in the English version of this manga, it's printed English style, that is, front-to-back, (or left-to-right) rather than the standard manga which reads back-to-front/right-to-left. It takes some getting used to.

I'm about 75 pages into this book and it is already one of the most fascinating, important, and engaging books I've ever read. And it's funny, too, which was unexpected. This should be required reading by EVERYONE. After you read this book, I can't imagine how you could not prioritize getting an 8-hour night of sleep every night. Some astounding facts:-Routinely sleeping less than 6 or 7 hours a night increases your risk of cancer by 50%.-Every species every studied, preceding the emergence of vertebrates even, sleeps. Some species can sleep with only half their brain (!!). Sleep is an incredibly risky thing for an animal to do because you are completely vulnerable to predators when you sleep. But sleep is THAT important that it was preserved by evolution.-After even one night of less than 5 hours of sleep, natural killer cells (which kill cancer cells that appear in your body EVERY DAY) drop by 70%.
