I am in a season of my life where I've graduated college. I went 734 miles away from home to earn a Bachelors of Religious Education in Pastoral Ministry. Then, as a result of graduating I had a job offer "secured." I knew it was perfect! It was something that I desired to do greatly. However, here I sat weeks and months later with no fruition or manifestation of what I was told I would have. The door slammed right in my face. Interestingly, I recalled that months before that Dr. Evans preached a series on detours...and I researched it, listening to the sermons and buying the book. Long Story Short, I'm waiting on my door with exceedingly great joy & strength!!! I am thankful for ALL of my detours!!!!!

I highly recommend the book to anyone building software, especially entrepreneurs. Examples are from Laura's real experience. Advices are practical and actionable. She is slowly trying to discover who she is.Bode, the youngest of the Lockes, somehow manages to keep his whimsy during all of this. He has an active imagination, and maintains a strong sense of wonder though out all of these stories.Keyhouse is now my favorite setting for a story. This manor is massive, beautiful, and filled to the brim with mysticism.If you are looking for a book the pulls no punches, is beautifully illustrate, and has an amazing cast of character, all while being kind of scary, then you have found your next read.GET IT NOW!

I bought this for a graphic novel book club for adults, the subject was on Horror. It does build around mystery and suspense as well as the supernatural when a family suffer a loss and relocate on the other side of the country for safety. Cryptic clues about special keeps and the paranormal abilities they unlock to person who uses them. It had some disturbing moments...and hard to believe this was created by the son of Stephen King. I guess horror literature does run in the family.

Some producers have apparently been working on adapting this into a movie trilogy.In this volume, the other members of a family witness the patriarch’s murder and move from the San Francisco Bay Area to a new home in New England. However, not only is the disturbed teenaged delinquent on his way, but there’s also something strange in the neighborhood if you catch my drift. Let me just say that keys are a central plot device as the title implies.The artwork for the characters doesn’t quite meet my own taste as it leans towards the cartoonish. Even then it is certainly technically competent and, most importantly, highly expressive. The scenery is beautifully detailed. The “camera” angles really aid in the telling of the story.Speaking of story, for all the seemingly predictable tropes, it actually becomes rather disturbing, haunting, touching. It really shows the pain that the members of the family go through after a horrible loss. It also draws out the drama from the emerging phantasmagoria quite effectively; the interaction between the human and the spiritual is the key here (the pun was not intended, I promise). I may download more volumes soon.

The long-awaited companion of Viking Language 1 is truly worth the wait, to my knowledge there has never been a serviceable Old Norse reader, and just as I compared Viking Language 1 favorably to the 6th edition of the Wheelock's Latin textbook in my previous review, so too will I compare this book favorably with the Wheelock's Latin reader. So rare is language instruction that is both systematic and effective, as well as challenging and exciting, that I cannot praise Byock's work enough. I can only hope that, not unlike the continuing Wheelock's Latin analogy, there might be a Viking Language 3: Compendium of Runic Inscriptions someday, or at least something to that effect.

I love this book series. When embarking on a way of eating that is significantly different from what you are used to, it is such a relief to have quick and easy guides that cover all meals for a whole month's worth of eating. Makes the transition super easy.

Great recipes, but make sure you calculate your own nutritional values. I have found the values stated in the book to be significantly off from my own calculations.

I have purchased Breakfast in Five, Lunch in Five, and Dinner in Five. I bought these books because my wife and I have started Ketogenic diets.These books provide tasty, quick, and easy to follow recipes for meals that has gotten us beyond bacon and eggs. I've tried about a dozen of the recipes so far have been great.I gave this book 4 stars because I found that listed ingredients in the Blueberry Pancake recipe to be incongruent with the instructions i.e. salt listed in the instructions section but isn't listed in the ingredient section so I was left to my own thinking as to how much salt to add. My wife felt I added to much salt. Now I know how much to put in!Being new to ketogenic dieting I am very

Loving this cookbook! I've made 2 breakfasts so far (blueberry pancakes and souffle) and they're amazing. It blows my mind how easy these recipes are.I've tried many books before but they're always complex and I always have to go shopping for a ton of ingredients. Looking through the recipes, I have the ingredients for at least 10 of them, which is awesome.I also bought Lunch and Dinner in Five and am thoroughly enjoying them as well. It's worth the price because I'm actually motivated to make these recipes.

I am following the recipes exactly, I am getting the correct and lowest carb ingredients I can. I have been doing Keto for years. Several recipes are more than 5 net carb. So for the book to say up to 5 net carbs is wrong. Also several of the recipes are not even complete, missing ingredances or not explaining where to use listed ingredances. This seems very rushed, and lacks proof reading. It was a complete waste of money. I bought all 4 books so I only hope the other 3 are written better than this one.

I received this book on the day it released (yesterday) and simply couldn't put it down (well, except when life realities got in the way). Annie is as clever as she is likeable, with a snarky dark side that I just loved. With short chapters that alternately made me giggle and tear up or get wistful, it was the perfect read for my busy, easily interrupted life as a mom. I was impressed by several things. First, I'm blown away by the sheer volume of books she has read and has opinions about- copious and truly diverse. Having not come to pleasure reading until later in life, I found her wide array of knowledge to be inspiring and informative. She made even the most obscure titles sound interesting.Secondly, Annie is just really funny. I can imagine her actually holding these books in her hands and expressing her clever sentiments. Or quietly being snarky with me by the bookshelf at a party. I love the little personal and family details that she weaves into the stories, making the book even more endearing to me.Finally, this book inspired me to read more books. I love books that make me feel this way. I have a very lengthy list of her recommendations and am looking forward to getting started-- with the help of my local library.FYI to potential readers, Annie uses some language, and some less-than-savory themes are discussed... because of humor and because of books. I enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to reading it again in the future.

LOVED IT! As an ex-librarian I chuckled, laughed out loud, savored the sweet spots (to reread FROG & TOAD now with Annie Spence’s tenderness for them made it all a new experience), made out lists, and ordered several more of this book as gifts. Spence is an uninhibited reviewer who isn’t trying to create the 100 BOOKS YOU MUST READ BEFORE YOU KEEL OVER. This is pure joy. And her view of hobbity creatures still makes me laugh. Spence is a librarian with a robust joy of books that she loves or not. It’s delightful. And yes, I ordered some FROG & TOAD for adults and children. Ms. Spence, they owe you for the uptick in orders of some books because of you in the stacks.

Given how much I love to exchange book recommendations and stories of the books that changed my life, I knew I would enjoy this read. And by the end, it felt like I had met a friend for coffee and spent hours discussing our favorite reads, and some of our not-so-favorite ones, too. I also found a list of new literary friends I need to meet and worlds to get lost in during my reading. And, the author gives to best answer to the question of which author would you invite for dinner, and why. The answer is Anne Frank, "because I would love to watch that bright young woman’s smile grow upon learning that she is an internationally celebrated author." And I am not crying now, YOU are crying.

Loved this book! It is split into two parts, the first consists of breakup / love letters to the books in her life as a librarian, and the second are hilarious book lists that may help you in certain situations, such as how to turn your lover into a reader.
 Regarding the letters - there were books I had not read (Virgin Suicides), and some I added to my TBR because of her letters (as if I needed more to read). She was spot on in some of her reviews (50 shades...) and some I politely disagreed with (I was not that big a fan of The Goldfinch, sorry).
The book lists were my favorite though, and I thought this format was absolutely genius. She starts the lists off with the topic of 'I'd Rather Be Reading', and gives excuses to tell your friends so you can stay home and read, along with a book that pairs with the theme of the excuse. I was dying on a few of them, for example, "I'll be at my high school reunion. Want to be my date?" And then she recommends Home Land by Sam Lipsyte, which is apparently a novel about a guy that has a high school nickname of Teabag. It just keeps going from there.


Honestly, I bought this book because the excerpt amused me. Now I tremble with the thought that I could easily have missed it. It's just like the long, fun conversations I had with my bookstore coworkers all the time. It brought back so many happy memories, and renewed my desire to become a librarian myself. That's always been my dream, and this book perfectly showcases why. Not incidentally, my TBR list has experienced a growth spurt, too.

This book is so great! It's funny, charming, and completely relatable read. I couldn't put it down and couldn't stop laughing while reading it. The author is a great writer, and I really liked this charming little book with a ton of personality and character (I even loved the vulgarity, it made me laugh even more!). It was hilarious. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great new read, and this book would be perfect for your next book club book!

I love this book. Most of the books that are a subject for her letters I have read or am familiar with, so her "letter" to the book is really meaningful and true. A few I haven't read and have now added to my reading list. I found the tone startling at first but soon settled in and soon found it laugh out loud funny. I haven't laughed that much with a book since the last David Sedaris came out. The best one for a laugh was the Steven King. My co-workers in the break room insisted that I pass the book around after I finished reading the letter to his book. ( each letter is about a page and a half so it's easy for multiple people to read it on a half hour break. ) I will wait impatiently for her next book.

Well, we certainly agree on most books! It's refreshing to find someone that agrees with my passion for Fahrenheit, as well as my distain for The Hobbit. While our opinions differ on the "Killing" series, it's nice to have someone helping me avoid other humans to be with my books. I think this is the beginning of a long, wonderful friendship.And if you like this style of writing directly to the book, you will adore Dear Fahrenheit 451 as much as I do. Every bibliophile needs this book.

Simple but effective way to engage the reader(at least me).All of the methods are described very well, that are perfectly usable even for an absolute beginner. Everybody who suffers from depression should take it seriously and should practice. They could gain incredible benefits from it. I've decided I'll practice all of them.In addition I liked the color of subtitles.

This book has interesting content on its explanation about depression. This subject could not be taken lightly because a lot have been a victim of this mental issues and had resorted to a drastic action against themselves. This book highlighted the main factors that caused depression and the tell-tale sign to spot a person who might have suffered it- thus helping that person to cope with it.This book has tips and illustration that gives a reader an idea on the in-depth explanation of depression and its coping mechanism. Recommended it.

This book is a must read for anyone who is currently struggling with depression, has ever had depression, or who just wants to feel happier and healthier. Reading this book is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I hope more people with depression will learn how to beat it and keep it away for life! I highly recommend the book.

Words cannot fully express how grateful I am to have this book. A lot of us are suffering in the same mental illness that we're having which is depression. It came from the anxiety that you're feeling and then it leads to depression. Self doubts, low self esteem, small confidence are the terms and words that could bring us down. This book talks and tackled all about it and how we can stand up for our selves. It contains a lot of advice and motivations to conquer all these mental illnesses and try to start on living less depressed and stressed. Definitely commendable to those who are dealing with the same problem as me.

Several good tools in this book. I can attest that surrounding yourself with positive people certainly helps. I like the way they break things down in this book and make each option simplified and easy to try. Good book if suffer any form of depression you should get this book and try some of the suggestions.

A well written book and planned topics to cover the basic awareness about depression to the steps from physical, to mental self-help activites that can be done to counter depression. The activities in this books are short and specific, easy to follow actions which some can be done instantly and quickly. The focus of the book is purely on the solutions against depressions, instead of dwelling into what have gone wrong. Very positive hearted book, would recommend to anyone who needs some self-help or know someone who does.

Not the best book on depression, basic information you can read anywhere.
