After choosing a career working with electricity, electronics, and computers, I found that in my thirties my health ran down to the point of being put on prescription medication. None of the doctors could tell my why this occurred and they told me that it was a "normal aspect of aging", everyone is the same! I now know that I had a form of radiation sickness that was caused by exposure to the equipment that I was working with, the products that were in my home, and too much sunlight exposure (the Sun is a nuclear reactor!). This is an excellent book that confirmed my own personal findings. Today I have good health that I thought was impossible to achieve a few years ago. Other books that I can also recommend are "Electromagnetic Fields" by B. Blake Levitt and "Health and Light" by Dr. John Nash Ott.
This needed 10 STAR not 5. This gentleman has changed many people's lives. How? I used his treatments in injury of patients, ALL responded. Knee pain which were called total and must be replaced, healed. Carpal tunnels, healed. Shoulders healed...Thank you Dr. BECKER. You have star in heavens.
In the 1960s Robert O. Becker was a prominent orthopedic surgeon and researcher in electrophysiology. He pioneered using electromagnetic energy at various frequencies for pain relief and to help broken bones knit better. In the 1980s he wrote several books, such as "The Body Electric," summarizing his research as well as that of others. Those interested in the field might notice that he was heavily influenced by a Yale professor of the 1930s, Dr. Harold Saxton-Burr who wrote "The Fields of Life."In 1990 he published this book outlining possible avenues for using electromagnetic means to enhance healing. However, the book also is a wake-up call regarding the sea of electromagnetic radiation we live in. He focuses on the un-natural fields and their potential interference with the natural fields we evolved in. The un-natural sources are radio, TV, WiFi, microwaves, cell phones, appliances and a host of other sources. The problem, he claims, is a lack of good research on this radiation which is non-ionizing. We all hear of the dangers of ionizing radiation, for instance from radioactive materials and X-rays (for political as well as scientific reasons), but do not hear much of those electromagnetic fields which have biological effects, because their mechanisms are not well understood. One might feel that this is fringe science, so imagine my surprise in early 2015 to hear news articles regarding well researched studies showing hazardous effects on infants and toddlers from exposure to WiFi. This was basically pointed out by Dr. Becker 30-40 years ago. This just goes to show that what is old becomes new fairly often. It also shows that there is something wrong with a system that takes 30-40 years to take a new look at old research. Dr. Becker also cites some interesting studies and has some thoughts on the relationship of this electromagnetic sea to cancer. Much of it is very convincing.Being an optimist at heart, I think many readers will concentrate on the healing possibilities of electromagnetic techniques. We already are starting to use such techniques as transcranial magnetic stimulation on depression patients. You can see the possibilities in some of Becker's observations. Who knows, someday we might have "healing sarcophagi" like those featured in the movie Star Gate.It may be that research is inhibited by the difficulty of making a profit for the medical complex. It would seem more profitable to make a drug, even if only partly effective. Also, as to the dangers of the unnatural electomagnetic sea we've created, I don't really see much solution. No one is going to turn off radio, TV, WiFi and power lines; and, few want to spend their lives in a Faraday Cage in some cave. That said, I have to say this is an intriguing look at a field too often overlooked. The field is long in the tooth, but young enough to contribute to our welfare. My criticism is that Dr. Becker has covered too much in just one book. The positive opportunities seem overwhelmed by the negative position we are in with scant solution. Nevertheless, if you find this field fascinating, this book is for you. Five Stars.
i loved this book. So many things that I learned. Am getting so into 21st century body therapy. Micro-pollution vs micro therapy. Believe me, electro magnetic therapy works!
Electrical as well as sound and light frequencies can be most useful as well as damaging. Becker does an excellent job of explaining, using fascinating studies to illustrate his concepts. It's time we accept the danger of the frequencies we are using in our environment, from wifi, cell phones, smart meters, now cars that use this technology to communicate with cars around them. Certain frequencies can also be powerful healing tools. Fascinating and useful information in this book.
Dr Robert O Becker was an orthopaedic surgeon who researched cell/limb regeneration and ended up as an expert on the effects of electricity on the body. His work puts a sound scientific basis to the area of electric fields. He was involved in reviewing electronic fields for the military which gave him a unique access to data. This allows him to bring together an interesting range of facts.Hospitals now use a number of devices that are based on his work. One device was patented by Dr Andy Bassett (a student of his) and involved using a magnetic field to speed bone union in fractures.Another device involves inserting 2 electrodes into a bone or wound which is infected (and thus not healing) and using a mild electric current to kill the bacteria. My friend says they did this to him in hospital recently... so it's obviously catching on.A third device is being used in hospitals for cancer: using 2 carbon nanotubes (probes) we can liquify cancer tumours using the electroporesis effect (as documented by Dr Robert Beck a physicist). Beck based his work on Kaali and Lyman... and they based their work on preceding work... which I assume included Becker.A surprising book. Covering topics you don't expect to find mentioned. A book with credibility. A book full of useful facts. A book that advances our knowledge of electronic hazards significantly.Dr Robert O Becker died in 2008... but not before finally patenting a device for regenerating tissue in 1998 ie. the de-differentiation of specialised cells and their re-differentiation into the required tissue. So who needs stem cells? I'm at a loss why this work hasn't been more widely used or cited... and it's not very complicated either... although I suspect that Becker might have left out a bit of detail.Becker did do a little bit more work on healthy magnetic fields that isn't documented here... as he also seems to be behind at least one device to improve cell metabolism (similar to Bassett's idea only for the whole body). The use of electrical stimulation in treating depression and addiction is also an area that is starting to get serious attention eg. refer Dr Meg Patterson (NET) and Dr Robert Beck (Biotuner). Beck gives a fascinating history of this in an audio interview.Electronic fields can have both positive and negative effects on the body... Becker documents both.Unfortunately Becker fails to reference his own work properly... but you can find the references in his 1998 patent. This is not hard reading. Becker keeps it simple. Anyone should have no trouble understanding this.It is a well informed opinion. Much speculation and myth is based on Beckers work. I found Becker originally by trying to track down who people were referencing when they made claims about electromagnetic fields. Most references seem to be refering to Beckers work... so read from the source?Beckers previous book "The body Electric" is probably the book most people cite.If you have to choose between the two... buy the first one... then you'll probably be hooked and buy the second one anyway.:-)
