ELIZABETH O. LICHTENBERGER, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist residing in Carlsbad, California. She has coauthored several Essentials books, including Essentials of Assessment Report Writing (with Nancy Mather, Nadeen Kaufman, and Alan Kaufman). She and Alan Kaufman are coauthors of Assessing Adolescent and Adult Intelligence, now in its third edition. ALAN S. KAUFMAN, PhD, a leading expert on intelligence testing, is Clinical Professor of Psychology at the Child Study Center at the Yale University School of Medicine. His books, tests, and intelligent testing approach have had worldwide impact on clinical assessment. Dr. Kaufman's approach to test interpretation and his tests—such as KABC-II and KTEA-II, which he co-created with Nadeen Kaufman—reflect an integration of psychometric, theoretical, and clinical perspectives. I got a scam copy of the CD as well. The CD is essential to a class I am taking, so this is an extreme detriment to the value of this book for me. Verify that your copy has the correct CD if you do decide to buy this.
i wish I had read other reviews, I would not have purchased this item. It appears to be a knock-off of a legitimate textbook. The CD enclosed is a fake. The book seems OK but it has many editing errors which makes the content suspect. The original book is good, just don't buy it on Amazon.
This is a concise and concrete how-to manual based on the Wechsler Adult scales. The CD provides packaged/"canned" test protocols so as to get up and running with adult intelligence testing without having to reinvent the wheel.This is a useful adjunct to the far more comprehensive studies required in conducting Neuropsychological Evaluations, which are directed to ferreting out the Neurobiological (Cerebral) basis of Cognitive Abnormalities.It's also worthwhile to have several of the other texts in this series (also authored by the Kaufmans), so as to avail oneself of other, purely PSYCHOLOGICAL test methodologies.MBT, MDMBT, MD
Much more helpful than a dozen lecture on how to interpret the WAIS. Essential for writing reports. Dry reading.
This book was very helpful. The CD at the back helped with calculations and within the book there's information about each subtest which helps one understand what is measured and how to administer the tests. It would help to read the entire book before class or administration of the test.
It's a helpful guide for my class, but it's a dry read. Very technical, so it's boring for me.
I was extremely disappointed to find that the Kindle version does not include the important appendices that come with the physical version despite being similar in cost. It is a shame that Amazon discourages people from using the more environmentally sensible electronic version by omitting materials.
