This book was especially meaningful to me because I've known Gus for over 20 years. Gus's book shows how God pursues us even when we're doing everything we can to avoid Him. In this book, you'll read about God's great love and how He provides for and protects those who trust Him--even in the midst of great suffering and trials. The book will encourage and inspire anyone who says they know God but don't sense His presence or His speaking in their lives. And those who don't yet know God will see irrefutable evidence that God exists and loves us with a love beyond our wildest dreams. Gus is truly a man who has been overwhelmed by God's grace and you can be too!
This in my opinion, is what most Christians go through being in the ministry or out of the ministry. We all come to Christ with a lot of baggage from the outside world , but he cleans up before he uses us and while he is using us. If it were possible I would give this book 10 stars.
The personal stories in this book by Gus Bess could be made into a "must see" movie. The harrowing ordeals he relates about his time in Vietnam and many other wild episodes in his life had me reading with my eyes opened very wide and my jaw dropped. Gus's life and his amazingly strong faith shown through many frustrating life events and near disasters are an incredible testament to the saving grace of a mighty God.
Super easy read! Gus tells the story of his amazing life and his relationship with Jesus.I think I always work too hard to have an Intellectual relationship with God yet here is a great story of approaching God with a childlike approach and having a rich relationship. A very refreshing view wether you are a long time Christian or an atheist....

I've only seen Gus twice in person and once (recently) streamed from His Place, Post Falls....and he is a hero of mine. The passion. The stories. The changed lives. The hills and valleys he's traveled through, all the while keeping his eyes upon Jesus' calling.This book reads like Gus speaks. Simple, plain, powerfully direct and honest. That's all it takes to see Gus's gift as a preacher of the Word. Then comes the always encouraging word for us to see through the distractions to the place where God leads.An awesome and quick read. You always want to see what's going to happen next. It will "blow your hair back!"
